1942 GMC CCKW 353 Cargo Truck

This 1942 GMC CCKW 353 cargo truck is a solid, unrestored example sourced from the West Coast. It spent much of its postwar life with a school district in Oregon, where it was used during winter months to pull school buses out of the snow. The truck still wears its school district blue paint, with the original olive drab finish visible underneath.

A notable feature is its original wooden cargo bed, a rare survival as many of these trucks were re-decked over the years. During its civilian service the truck was upgraded with a GMC 302 engine, a common and reliable postwar improvement.

The school district had installed a civilian winch on the front at one point, which has since been removed. Included with the truck is a correct original non-winch bumper.

Overall, this CCKW presents a great opportunity as either an unrestored survivor or a strong candidate for restoration. The truck is in solid condition but will require the brake system to be redone before returning to the road.

A very honest example of the legendary GMC CCKW with great history and restoration potential.
